The new production of the MOTUS Company debuts at Teatro Marconi in Roma
On Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:00 pm, Teatro Marconi in Rome (viale Marconi 698 E) host the National Premiere of “Ingratitudine (vizio delle anime anguste”, new production of the MOTUS Company, with the support of Regione Toscana.
Ingratitude is an ancient, almost genetic evil, and no one can claim to be immune from it.
The lack of gratitude often degenerates and drives the recipient to negative feelings towards the benefactor, entering a spiral of real hatred. Psychologists define this phenomenon as “rancor syndrome of the beneficiary”, a disease that affects those receiving a benefit and bearing an evident “debt of gratitude” towards their benefactor. That is the reason why the crowd chooses Barabbas, instead of Jesus.
In more recent times there are plenty of examples of ingratitude. One of the most striking is the public opinion ingratitude towards the journalist Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, whose extradition from UK to the United States (where he is expected to be condemned to 175 years of prison) has been authorized. Assange has never been charged with a real specific allegation, other than an unspecified “espionage”, referring to an old US law dated 1917. The charge, actually covers the censorship for having dared to lift the veil on war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to Noam Chomsky, Daniel Ellsberg and Alice Walker: ” The UK’s decision to extradite Julian Assange to the nation that plotted to assassinate him – the nation that wants to imprison him for 175 years for publishing truthful information in the public interest – is an abomination”. The progressive German parliamentarian Sevim Dagdelen declared: “Julian Assange is a hero. Every decent citizen and journalist is called to stand up”. Despite the appeals of many personalities from the world of culture and journalism, very few protest demonstrations have been carried out in defense of the inviolable right to information, to fight a legal initiative that could establish a dangerous precedent: the publication of truthful information in the public interest could be considered a subversive and criminal act. An approach that would be an attack not only on press freedom, but also on democracy itself. The MOTUS show is dedicated to Julian Assange, a journalist fully devoted to his profession, who acted with the sole objective of allowing everyone to know the truth.
The show, with choreography by Simona Cieri and directed by Rosanna and Simona Cieri, is performed by Martina Agricoli, Paloma Biagioli, Ilaria Fratantuono, Roberta Morello, Gian Maria Picciau and Mattia Solano.
The event in included in the “Start Dancing” Festival, directed by Compagnia Atacama.
