The NATURAL-MENTE project starts in Modena with “Ultima Fermata” (Last Stop) by MOTUS
On Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 9:00 PM, Drama Theatre in Modena, Italy (Viale Buon Pastore 57), hosts “Ultima Fermata” (Last Stop), a production by MOTUS addressing environmental sustainability and climate tipping points. The work is produced with the support of Tuscany Region and co-produced by Mulino ad Arte (TO).
The event marks the first step of the “NATURAL-MENTE” project, a collaboration between MOTUS and ARCI Siena, supported by Otto per Mille funds from the Waldensian Church. The project aims to raise awareness about the climate crisis through art, using the performance “Ultima Fermata” (Last Stop). In this work, the MOTUS Company imagine the what can happen in 26 years from now, when the planet reaches the climate point of no return. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of three survivors seeking refuge on a bus, resisting the inevitable end. The bus becomes a stage for various events, and the Сompany uses a lot of humor to highlight how humanity can be crazy, in its dependent compulsive shoppig of objects that are such unuseful as energy-dispersing and harmful to the planet. The conclusion, even if inevitable, is not obvious and the unexpected ending surprises the audience.
The choreography of “Ultima Fermata” is created by Martina Agricoli on music of various authors, with the performers Roberta Morello, Mattia Solano, and Martina Agricoli herself. The direction is by the sisters Rosanna and Simona Cieri.
In addition to the show, the “NATURAL-MENTE” project includes community engagement on environmental themes. At 6:00 PM on September 28, there will be a gathering at Buon Pastore Park for the planting of a Field Maple tree with the participation of teenagers from PANG! – a European project that continues its activity for the second year
