The new production of the MOTUS Company at the Teatro Il Mulino di Piossasco
Saturday 17 Dicember 2022, at 9.00 p.m., Teatro “il Mulino” in Piossasco (Torino) will host the Nation Premiere of “Ultima fermata”, the new production of the MOTUS Company about issue of environmental sustainability and climate “tipping point”, realized with the support of Regione Toscana and co-produced by Compagnia Mulino ad Arte. The performance denounces the dramatic situation starting from the title, underlining that the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is the last opportunity offered to humanity to avoid an environmental catastrophe. An alarming analysis of a group of researchers, belonging to the Australian National Center for Climate Restoration, outlines a scenario in which, by 2050, the global warming will exceed three degrees centigrade, triggering fatal alterations of the ecosystem and colossal migrations of at least a billion people. After climate “tipping points” are exceeded, the global warming will feed itself, also without human intervention, making every attempt to eliminate emissions useless.
MOTUS imagines the scenario that could emerge in 27 years, after the sea level has risen by half a meter submerging the coasts of the entire globe, with continuous heat waves and water shortages that will lead to the death of million people for thirst and lack of food. In “Ultima fermata”, three survivors have found refuge in an abandoned bus, trying to resist to the inevitable end. In the bus everything happens and the show underlines with a strong dose of irony, through several twists and turns, the stupidity of human being, seen as slave, who depends on unnecessary consumption and destroys the Planet. The end is inevitable, but not so obvious, and leaves the audience dumbfounded.
The choreography of “Ultima fermata”, on music by various authors, is created by Martina Agricoli and performed by Ilaria Fratantuono, Roberta Morello and Mattia Solano, directed by Simona and Rosanna Cieri.
The performance “Ultima fermata” is the result of an Artistic Residency of the MOTUS Company at the Theatre “Il Mulino”, in Piossasco. The Residency included free workshops and a meeting with the audience in the period from 29 September to 2 October. The Residency continues from 14 to 17 December with a workshop on 15 December and an audition for dancers on 16 December.
